Lindsey Michaels is a dedicated law enforcement professional and certified instructor specializing in domestic violence response and prevention. Currently serving as a Police Officer with the Montville Police Department, she has been entrusted with roles including Accreditation Manager, Domestic Violence Liaison, and Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) Coordinator. She is also a POSTC certified instructor, teaching at regional academies and statewide trainings, where she equips officers with the knowledge and skills to effectively recognize and respond to domestic violence, with a special focus on strangulation and coercive control.

Lindsey’s career reflects a deep commitment to victim advocacy and public safety. Before entering policing, she worked as a Family Violence Victim Advocate and Law Enforcement Advocate with Safe Futures, where she provided direct support to survivors, facilitated safety planning, and coordinated with courts and law enforcement. That experience continues to inform her approach as an instructor, bridging the gap between advocacy and policing.

Recognized as a member of the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s First 100 Plus Class of 2023, Lindsey continues to work with organizations like Safe Futures and CCADV to ensure continuing partnership with departments and improved police training. Her specialized instruction covers emerging issues such as best practices in investigating strangulation, the connection between domestic violence and mass shootings, and changing legal updates/procedures such as RPO/RPW investigations and the statewide expansion of the GPS Alert Notification System.

Lindsey holds a Master of Science in Criminal Investigations and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, both from the University of New Haven, where she graduated with top honors. Lindsey also serves as her PD’s Honor Guard Coordinator and Special Olympics Liaison.
