Michael J. Lukanik has been a law enforcement officer for over 28 years. Michael served with the Middletown Police Department from 1997 until 2017 and is now employed by the Southington Police Department. Michael has been an instructor since 2002 and teaches many topic areas within law enforcement.
Michael is certified by CT POSTC to instruct in the areas of Use of Force, Baton, OC, Handcuffing, Defensive Tactics, Officer Safety & Mechanics of Arrest and Control, De-Escalation, Conflict Management, Crimes in Progress, Stopping Suspicious Persons, Crowd Control & Civil Disorder, Preparation/Techniques (Stop Sticks), and Field Training Officer Responsibilities.
Michael’s primary focus has been in use of force and force-related topics. He has been a field training officer since 2002 and was the Field Training Coordinator with the Middletown Police Department for several years. Michael also completed the FEMA Field Force Operations Instructor training for crowd control/civil unrest in 2022.
