Patrol Officer, Supervisory – 35 Hour In Service Programs

All of these programs offer 35 hours of credit that include all mandates and some electives (except firearms).  Student officers meet Monday through Friday, 0830-1630 at host locations, with the exceptions of the Thursdays Only Supervisory Program that meets for a total of Five Thursdays.    Class 238S-M (the Thursdays Only Course) provides electives that focus on supervision.  You must be a sergeant or higher to attend an “S” class.

Chiefs In-Service – 7 Day Program

The Chiefs Program will run this year, 2022-2023.  It will not run again in 2023-2024.  This program provides 7 days of training and includes all mandates (except firearms) and all electives to meet the requirements of POST to re-certify.  You must be a rank of Captain or above to enter this program.  Classes meet one Tuesday a month from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Rocky Hill Police Department.  Classes begin in September and run through May.  Agencies that are paying members of the Capital Region Chiefs of Police Association do not receive an invoice for the Chiefs Program.

How will I know if a class has available seats?

When you press on the Registration Link an Open Class appears on the list.  If instead you find the Class appears with the word “Wait List” in front of it, then you know the class is full.  If you would like to put your officer on the wait list you may do so.  It is recommended, however, that you register your officer for another course that he/she can attend in addition to the wait listed course, should the wait list not allow for later registration.  Wait list decisions will be made 2 weeks prior to the course.  If you have special circumstances please call us to discuss.
