Christopher Bartolotta is a seasoned police executive with over 35 years of experience in public safety, law enforcement, and organizational leadership. Most recently, Mr. Bartolotta serves as the Deputy Chief / Executive Officer of the Avon Massachusetts Police Department. In this role, he leads strategic initiatives to advance law enforcement accreditation and best practices across Massachusetts. Under his leadership, APD implemented innovative technology, enhanced relationships with numerous law enforcement agencies and promoted a culture of excellence in public safety. He concurrently serves as the agency’s Emergency Management Liaison, developing and implementing comprehensive emergency response plans to protect critical infrastructures, during natural disasters and other emergencies.
Before joining APD, Mr. Bartolotta served with the Connecticut State Police Department, where he rose through the ranks to eventually retire with the rank of Captain. During his tenure, he effectively managed multi-million-dollar budgets, guided strategic planning, oversaw human resources, and managed grievances and arbitration-related matters. He also spent seventeen years as the Team Leader of the Crisis Negotiation Unit on the agency’s Tactical Team.
In addition, Mr. Bartolotta has currently spent over twenty-seven years as a certified law enforcement instructor with the CT Police Officer Standards and Training Council, providing recruits and veteran officers with advanced training. He is also a certified instructor for the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training, a professional organization that provides standards, certifications, accreditation, and resources for law enforcement training and education.
Mr. Bartolotta holds a Master of Public Safety from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Dowling College. He is a proud graduate of the FBI’s National Academy, Session #281, with a Master Certificate in Organizational Leadership. Lastly, Mr. Bartolotta has been recognized with numerous awards, citations, and commendations during his extensive career.
